Perlight makes the PowerPlug MAX range, and Plug In Solar Ltd sells it. There are four kits, one or two panels each. We read the seller's pages and ran the sums. We have not tested any of them.
What do you get in the box?
Each kit comes with panels and a micro-inverter. The listing for the 465 W kit says it is an 800 W micro-inverter. The panel sizes are 465 W, 500 W, 930 W and 1000 W. The 930 W and 1000 W kits have two panels. Kits with more than 960 W of panels come with official advice to have an electrician check your wiring first. The listing doesn't say what mounting you get, so ask the seller before you order.
How much does it cost?
Price checked 12 October 2026, including 20% VAT. The MAX 465 W kit is £588. The MAX 500 W is £594. The MAX 930 W is £798. The MAX 1000 W is £810. Plug In Solar Ltd is the seller. Some trackers report a lead time of 4 weeks or more. We couldn't verify that, so ask the seller for a delivery date.
How much will it save a year?
The government's figure for 800 W of panels is about £70 to £110 a year. We scaled it by panel size, rounded to the nearest £5. That is our estimate. The 465 W kit saves about £40 to £65. The 500 W kit saves about £45 to £70. The two-panel kits get the full £70 to £110, because the inverter caps output at 800 W.
How long does it take to pay for itself?
Price divided by saving, to the nearest half year. The 465 W kit: £588 ÷ £65 = 9.0 and £588 ÷ £40 = 14.7, so 9 to 14.5 years. The 500 W kit: £594 ÷ £70 = 8.5 and £594 ÷ £45 = 13.2, so 8.5 to 13 years. The 930 W kit: £798 ÷ £110 = 7.3 and £798 ÷ £70 = 11.4, so 7.5 to 11.5 years. The 1000 W kit: £810 ÷ £110 = 7.4 and £810 ÷ £70 = 11.6, so 7.5 to 11.5 years. Our worth-it guide explains the method.
Is it on the ENA register?
The listing we read doesn't claim a register entry. The seller's category page says you need no installation team, MCS or SEG forms. That is not the same as being on the register. Search the ENA register for your exact model before you buy. Trackers list references, but we haven't verified them, so don't rely on them. You must also tell your network operator; see our notification guide.
Where can you put it?
The listing doesn't say what mount is included, so we can't say where it fits. Ask first. Then pick a spot with sun for most of the day. Our guides to flats and balconies and sheds, fences and flat roofs list the common choices.
Does the warranty outlast the payback?
Only in the best case. The warranty is 10 years. The 930 W and 1000 W kits pay back in 7.5 to 11.5 years, so the worst case runs past the warranty. The 465 W kit's worst case is 14.5 years, which is well past it. Our test is that the warranty should run well past the payback. Most of these kits don't pass it in the worst case.
Who is it for, and who should skip it?
Be plain about it. The single-panel price is hard to justify against City Plumbing, where a 475 W kit costs £336 against £588 here. If you want a Perlight kit and have a very sunny spot, the two-panel kits make more sense. Everyone else should compare prices first. See the City Plumbing kits.
